5 Things Accountants Get Wrong About AI (Come See for Yourself Friday)
Most people who skip an AI workshop do not skip it because they are not curious. They skip it because somewhere in the back of their mind is a quiet doubt: this probably is not for me, or my firm, or my clients.
I hear those doubts all the time, and honestly, most of them are reasonable. So instead of telling you AI is amazing, let me name the five things I hear most, tell you what is actually true, and then invite you to watch the real thing in action this Friday.
Myth 1: "AI is going to replace accountants."
This is the big one, so let me be direct. AI is very good at the repetitive, rules-based parts of the work, categorizing transactions, chasing documents, reconciling accounts, drafting the same emails. It is not good at judgment, relationships, or standing behind a number in front of a client or the IRS.
What actually happens is not replacement, it is subtraction of the busywork. The accountants who learn this are not losing their jobs, they are losing the tasks they never liked and taking on more clients or better advisory work with the time they get back. The ones at risk are not the ones who use AI. They are the ones who compete against people who do.
Myth 2: "It is too technical for me."
If you can write a clear email describing what you want, you can run an AI agent. That is genuinely the skill. You are not coding, you are delegating, the same way you would brief a new team member, except this one works in seconds and never gets tired.
The reason it feels technical is that most of what you have seen was built by technical people for technical people. Watch it once in plain accounting language and the mystery evaporates. That is a big part of what Friday is for.
Myth 3: "It makes mistakes, so I cannot trust it."
It can, and this is a fair concern, not a myth to wave away. AI will occasionally get something wrong, which is exactly why you never hand it the judgment calls.
The right model is simple: AI does the typing, you make the decisions. A good agent drafts, sorts, extracts, and reconciles, and then you review, the same way you would review a staffer's work. You stay the professional. It just gets you to the review step in a fraction of the time.
Myth 4: "My client data is not safe."
Also a legitimate concern, and one you should take seriously. The answer is not to avoid AI, it is to use it correctly, with the right tools, the right settings, and clear rules about what data goes where. Data security was a real question when firms moved to the cloud too, and the profession worked out how to do it responsibly. This is the same story.
We talk about exactly this at the workshop, because pretending the concern does not exist helps no one.
Myth 5: "It is expensive, and I am not ready to invest."
You do not need to spend a dollar to find out whether this is for you. You can claim a free AI agent today, join a free community, and come to a free workshop, all before you have opened your wallet. Start where the risk is zero, and only invest once you have seen the value with your own eyes.
So come see it with your own eyes, Friday.
The fastest way past a doubt is to watch the thing actually work. That is the whole idea behind our free live workshop.
